Management and Consulting Services for Golf Clubs

Management

The role of the club owner is to determine the desired golfer/member experience and set the club’s financial goals. The role of the management company is to articulate what is required to achieve these goals. Design and implement the operating platform and manage the club to deliver both.

By drawing on a unique blend of operating experience from market leading golf management, consumer packaged goods, retail, restaurant and technology companies, Regent Golf has assembled the most advanced processes, procedures, tools and technologies available in golf management today. As a result, each department within your club is operated as its own distinct business unit, leveraging the tools, policies and practice of companies that are considered specialists in their respective field.

For example, Regent Food and Beverage operations are modeled after industry leading restaurant companies. This same approach is applied to merchandise, golf course maintenance, human resources, sales management and all club other departments.

Only Regent Golf is able to customize and implement the sophisticated operating platform required to successfully deliver both a memorable golfer/member experience and strong financial results.

The golf business is very dynamic due to the multiple businesses operating within the Club. (Food & Beverage, Membership, Tournaments and Banquet Sales, Course Maintenance, Facilities and Retail.  Each area has unique requirements with staffing, service levels, equipment, and facilities in order to meet the demands of your Members and Guests.  For these reasons Regent has created the following consulting opportunities to maximize your Club’s potential.

Regent Golf partners deliver the following services:

Comprehensive Operational Audits

Regent Partners will evaluate every department of your club by focusing on “What Right Looks Like” and evaluating your club against that standard. After visiting your club and conducting the audit, Regent will prepare a detailed report and present the findings and the recommendations for your club in order to find the correct balance between the “Member Experience and the Financial Performance of the club. Regent believes that each segment of a club’s business should be operated like the best companies that specialize in that area (ie: operate the F&B like a great restaurant company) The audit process will probe the following areas:

  • Golf Operations
  • Accounting and Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Golf Course Maintenance
  • Membership, Tournament and Banquet Sales
  • Marketing and Brand Position
  • Food & Beverage /Catering
  • Governance
  • Tennis, Fitness and Pool Operations

When we engaged the partners at Regent Golf, our club was not participating in the strong growth in the market and of the other clubs within our market. After the audit process, Regent provided a strong business case for making changes to the way we operated our club. They identified numerous revenue opportunities at the club as well as labor savings of over $200,000 annually. We implemented those changes with their help and saw our revenues grow and payroll costs go down. The members never noticed the payroll savings as the “Member Experience” improved with more efficient operations. We are now back on track and growing profitably”

Member Surveys

Part of finding the “Optimal Balance” is to measure the level and depth of your members satisfaction with all areas of the club. Regent uses on-line technologies to customize each survey to fit the club’s needs. This process includes structuring questions to help ownership understand the level of member satisfaction while providing real data on difficult issues facing the club and key investments that should be made at the club. Regent can provide a cost-effective way to determine the level and depth of your members satisfaction.

“We are convinced that getting feedback from our members every year is essential to meeting and exceeding the expectations of our 1,800 members. Our annual survey provides us with a scorecard for each area of the member experience at our club. Regent has done our surveys for a number of years and the survey and report provide our club with invaluable information that provides a comparison to previous years so that we can chart our progress.”

Development of Vision, Mission and Brand

Every club is its own unique brand and should have a well- defined “Vision statement ” for the “future”, a “Mission Statement defining its real purpose for being and a well- articulated Brand Positioning statement that helps guide all decisions for the club while making a statement to the marketplace about “Who we are”. Regent Golf partners can guide the club through this process in a one -day workshop.

"After 50 years as a private club, our Vision, Mission and Brand Position had changed. The Regent golf partners helped us recraft those statements to reflect who we are as a club today. Now that this has been done, we have a much clearer set of criteria in which to make decision for the club"

Membership Marketing

Replacing normal attrition of members and attracting new members to a club is the “life blood” of any club. The product and the membership categories must first be right for the market in order to effectively market to new members.  Marketing to today’s potential members is more difficult than ever before but new media tools available to make this process easier and more successful. Regent Partners and through its collaboration with Pipeline Agency can provide the right campaigns and processes.

"Regent partners helped reshape our membership products and our approach to the market. In 6 months, we added over 100 new members to the club. To say we are delighted is an understatement."

Annual Budgeting

Our experience has taught us that clubs spend too much time building annual budgets and are often based upon historical information only.  This can be a time-consuming endeavor without the right tools to streamline the budget process. Regent has a comprehensive budget tool and process that can easily build a zero- base annual budget in five days or less. Don’t spend more time than is needed and still not have a budget that works. Remember “What Right Looks Like”.

Testimonial from Holly Tree

“In the past, we would spend several months building a budget each year with a very time-consuming process. Regent told us they would work with our team to build a zero-based budget in in 5 days. I didn’t believe it until we completed the process and had a great budget for the coming year. The club made a $300k turnaround and came very close to the budget while still making some investments in the club. I am a believer in Regent’s budget tool and process.”
